Waking up on Amon Sul
Frodo saw the fire light
Stomped it out, cried "You fools!"
Told the hobbits to take flight
They were speechless, not one word
Drew their swords at Frodo's voice
Approaching Nazgul they observed
Left the bacon, had no choice
They could not believe their situation
They just had a rushed initiation
Their heads' saying DOOM! DOOM! DOOM!
"Hey," Pip said, "these black "things"
are circling all around."
To helpin' Frodo they resigned
His friends would save him if they could
Stepping forward in the line
Soon alone there Frodo stood
Dropped his sword and backed away
Tripped and fell onto his butt
Then the Nazgul came his way
Not one could the hobbit cut
Frodo felt the call of the One Ring
He put it on, stopped his fingering
His head going DOOM! DOOM! DOOM!
"Hafling," the Nazgul said, "We'll stab you through
and then we'll take The Ring."
To Mordor
Strider finally appeared
But where in Middle-earth was he?
With flaming brands he showed no fear
‘Til Weathertop was finally clear
He rushed to Frodo, the poor dear
His big blue eyes showed pain and fear
His friends knew naught of Elf first-aid
And they were now too far from Bree
Frodo was stabbed by a Morgul blade
Strider knew what the frown on Frodo's face meant
His heart aching DOOM! DOOM! DOOM!
"Hey," he said, "Hurry up you three,
we've got to get to Elrond's home."
Making his way to Mordor that day
took all that Frodo's got.
Taking a break from all the ring's worries
would help, but he cannot.
You can bet he'd like to get away. . .
Yes, Frodo wants to go
to Grey Havens for release from pain.
But poor Sam will be sad he came.
Frodo needs to be where he can see
a break from all the strain;
He wants to go to Grey Havens for release from his pain.
He wants to go where the Elves all know
the world was saved by his strain.
He wants to go to Grey Havens for release from his pain.
---------------
(to the tune of Cry by Mandy Moore)
I will always remember
On top of Mount Doom
Would have kept you forever
I guess I was consumed
yeah...
I know I'm all by myself
Staring down at a chasm wide
I've been changed
Chorus:
In places Nazgul may find
There's nowhere for this ring to hide
(ring to hide)
Was then that I realized
That destruction was in my eyes
The moment I saw hope die
(die)
Moment that I saw hope die
My heart burned like an ember
I didn't need you before
(and you were)
You were always the bad one
I was always so...sure
I know I'm all by myeself
Staring down at a chasm wide
I've been changed
Chorus
I want to hold you
I don't want to throw you away
I want to own you
I want to make your power...all mine...
I will always remember...
On top of Mount Doom...
In places Nazgul may find...
Chorus
---------------
Sam and Gollum burst in to applause, wiping away tears. Frodo bows
and goes back to the story as if he has not just sung a pop song.
(Frodo)
When I put the Ring on there's a blinding light
Like the fires in the heart of Mt. Doom
And I know it is he who made the Ring
But it's in my keeping
Hope He doesn't see me
When he whispers he bends me to his will
And I feel everything in me cry
There's a power in this Ring that I can't defeat
I haven't the strength
No, I haven't the strength
And the closer we come I can't help but hide
Terrorized by this shadow and voice
O'er his boundaries we passed in spite of the War
But this road I can't seem to cross
(Sam)
He has a way that surrounds him, that's elvish
With a knowledge that came out of fright
He is also so weak, and yet so strong
These things I can see
Cuz He doesn't see me
No, he doesn't see me
(Both)
The whole world we can change
If we just dare to try
But the cracks in the mountain are high
(Frodo)
When he fell to the cracks with a piercing cry
To the fires in the heart of Mt. Doom
And I know that he did what I could not do
Couldn't do it alone
Hope He didn't see me
Now I know He's seen me
Now He'll never see me
No, He'll never see me
Sung to the tune of the opening song 'Nature Boy' by David Bowie from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack:
There was a Hobbit,
a very strange, enchanted Hobbit
They say he wandered very far, very far,
over land and sea
A little shy, and odd he was
But very wise, was he
And then one day,
one magic day, he passed my way
and while he spoke of many things,
Elves and Kings,
this he said to me:
The greatest thing, I've ever known,
was just to bear, the ring alone
