this painting on what appears to be a European children's version of
The Hobbit.  Very cheerful. The middle may be from the late
1980's and bears a panorama of Rivendell by Ted Nasmith.  The last
is the 1968
first official issue from Ballentine with the "bulbous fruit" and emus
that Tolkien disliked so much.  Update:

the other two portions of the illustrated Hobbit that the first one is
from. An adapted graphic novel, It was published by Eclipse in 1989. |
