Ents Marching

(adapted by Stef from "Ants Marching" by Dave Matthews Band)

He wakes up in the morning
Moves about on his feet and he's rolling
Never changes a thing
The week ends the week begins
Pip thinks, we look at each other
Wondering what the other is thinking
But never say a thing
These twigs between us seem thicker

Take this Entwash
Sip it, relax here until a quieter time
Ents move, Orcs up and die

Goes to meet with his Ent friends
He leads them well their concerns
He relates them
And remembers the Ent-wives
Fair and tall, they all long to see them

Take this Entwash
Sip it, relax here until a quieter time
Ents move, Orcs up and die

Striding through this forest
All these Ents move to attack Isengard
Ents in every direction
Hang on Pippin
Hang on for your dear life

And all the mighty Ents are marching
Oak and ash, their branches waving
They all march there the same
They all march to the same end

Hobbits tempting the thoughts of a
Wizard waging war against men
Ents crash into his borders
There's a dead orc, dead orc, stomp, stomp
Break the dam, water the land again,
crash, crash, crash, crash

Take this Entwash
Sip it, relax here until a quieter time
Ents move, Orcs up and die.

The Night We Broke Old Orthanc Down

(tune:  The Night they Drove Old Dixie Down)

Treebeard Ent is my name and I shepherd the Fangorn trees
‘til that old orc-breeder came and disturbed my woodish zzz’s.
In the spring of the Great Year we were tree-ish, just barely aware,
A Took who’d come from Uruks that fell,
He said this tower we’d dismember oh so well.

The night we broke old Orthanc down
And all the water was comin’
The night we broke old Orthanc down
And all the Ents were hoomin’
They went hoom, hum a hum hoom hoom
Hoom hoom ba-room a hum a hoom a hoom.

Back with my trees in the forest deep
These halflings, they said to me,
“Treebeard, be hasty!
He’s chopped down another tree.”
Now I don’t like that chopping wood,
And I do think that wizard’s heart is no good.
Once he took deadwood, and would leave the rest -
But he should never have chopped down the very best.

The night we broke old Orthanc down
And all the water was comin’
The night we broke old Orthanc down
And all the Ents were hoomin’
They went hoom, hum a hum hoom hoom
Hoom hoom ba-room a hum a hoom a hoom.

With a rock wall before me, I can really start
And with his machines before me, I’ll rip them apart.
Oh, he was dressed in white, up in his tower
But we showed him who’s really in power
I swear by the roots beneath my feet
He won’t raise back up again, he’s in defeat.

The night we broke old Orthanc down
And all the water was comin’
The night we broke old Orthanc down
And all the Ents were hoomin’
They went hoom, hum a hum hoom hoom
Hoom hoom ba-room a hum a hoom a hoom.

The Hasty Ent Song
The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy), Simon and Garfunkle

Slow down, you hasty folk.
I am a walking talking oak.
Just standing here in the sunlight.
Hroom, you little orcs don't look quite right.

Hello Treebeard,
What cha knowing?
Your Entdraught has us Hobbits growing.
Please don't kill my friend and me?
Doot-in' doo-doo,
Don't be hasty!

Got some deeds to do,
Must destroy a keep.
I'm angry and wrathfilled and ready to leap.
Let the Men and Gandalf fight the orcs at Helm's Deep.
Remember this, lads;
Don't make an Ent mad!!
