It Came Upon March 25th
(It Came Upon a Midnight Clear)

It came upon March 25th
In that glorious tale of old
The destruction of that thing,
That evil ring of gold
Peace on the earth
Goodwill to Men
Now Aragorn’s the king
The earth in happy cheering sang
Because there is no Ring

And with the evil Sauron
The world has suffered long
He and his Ring have caused trouble
Three thousand years of wrong
The men at war with Orcs did hear
The hope that rumbling brings
O hush the noise, ye men of strife
Because there is no Ring

The Eagles through cloven skies come
With their wide wings unfurled
And carried unconscious hobbits far
O’er all the erupting world
And in Ithilien they stay
While Elves and men sing
Their songs of praise to hobbits two
Because there is no Ring

And lo! the days are hast’ning on
By Elrond seen of old
And with the ever-circling years
The time has come foretold
When all the Elves of Middle-earth
Shall Rings to white ships bring
The Three Elf Rings shall fade away
Because there is no Ring

Hark the Herald Tall Men Sing
(Hark the Herald Angels Sing)

Hark the herald tall men sing
Glory to our brand new king!
Peace in Middle-earth so mild
Beregond is reconciled
Joyful all the people cry!
Join the triumph of the skies!
With some Elvish folk to sing
Praises ‘cause there is no Ring!
With some Rohirrim to sing
Praises ‘cause there is no Ring!

Mild he wears his crown on high
Born that Frodo would not die
Born to heal the wounds of Earth
Born to give them joy and mirth
Aragorn by Arwen adored
Minas Tirith’s noble lord
Veiled as Strider no one could see
That this their king would soon be
Pleased as the Men with them to dwell
Aragorn is really swell

Hail the glorious King of all
Of Middle-earth, he shall not fall
Light and life, he does there stand
With much healing in his hands
Come and be our king forever
Never fail, oh never, never
Visit us, our noble liege
Let us ne’er be under siege
Visit us our noble liege
Let us ne’er be under siege
- MerryK

Having read other stories that integrate a story with a song, I attempted to try it myself with Gollum's Song, which is the end credits song in Two Towers. I hope you all enjoy.

Gollum’s Song

Where once was light
Now darkness falls
Where once was love
Love is no more

Abandoned. Yes, precious, they abandoned us. gollum, gollum. Forced to us to goes aways, they did. They loves us no more.

Don't say goodbye
Don't say I didn't try

No. Theys loved us. They didn’ts wants us to go away. Smeagol trieds to stop.

These tears we cry
Are falling rain
For all the lies you told us
The hurt, the blame!
And we will weep to be so alone

Stops talking. It hurts us. Wees gots no one, no one.

We are lost
We can never go home

No home. Always hiding.

So in the end
I'll be what I will be
No loyal friend
Was ever there for me

Wees on our owns now, precious. gollum, gollum.

Now we say goodbye
We say you didn't try

Goes away, Smeagol. You don’ts knows much. You didn’ts try to helps us. No, you didn’t, precious.

These tears you cry
Have come too late

Stops your noises, precious. gollum, gollum. Theys don’ts matter.

Take back the lies
The hurt, the blame!

Yous hurts us. Don’t blames us. We didn’ts do anything.

And you will weep
When you face the end alone

Why, precious, why does its weep? gollum, gollum. Is its alone, precious?

You are lost
You can never go home

No. Wees can goes home if we wants to. Wees can change.

You are lost
You can never go home

No, precious. Yous is lost. Yous can never go home. gollum, gollum. Yous can never change.

Yes, it's me again. A while back, you older members of the board were doing parodies . . . or something like it my friend, Estelwyn, told me about it. So after that we started doing parodies of songs from musicals we knew. This is one that, actually, my sister and I came up with and it's from Les Miserables.

Who Am I?

(Aragorn)
Who am I that I condemn myself to slavery?
Pretend I do not see my agony?
These men who walk and see my face
Who do not know my real place.

Who am I?
Can I conceal myself forever more?
Pretend I’m not the man I’m destined for?
Must my name until I die be no more than an alibi?
Must I lie?
How could I ever face my fellow men?
How could ever face myself again?
My heart goes to Arwen, I know.
I made that bargain long ago.
She gave me hope when hope was gone.
She gave me strength to journey on.

Who am I? Who am I?
I am Aragorn.

And so, Sauron, you should beware.
Although your ring I do not bear,
Who am I? I’m Isildur’s heir!
- Eruvanne

(*Sung to the tune: Don't Fence Me In)

Aragorn, who’s lookin' mighty pale,
Was standing by the hobbit's side;
And when that hobbit said
"I can’t believe that we’re in jail”
Aragorn raised his head and cried:

Oh, give me land, lots of land
Under starry skies above,
Don't fence me in.
Let me run through the wild open
Country that I love,
Don't fence me in.

Let me be with the elf in the evening breeze-
Listen to the dwarf complaining about all the trees,
Send me off to Mount Doom, but I ask you please,
Don't fence me in.

Just turn me loose,
Let me straddle Brego’s saddle
Underneath the Rohan sky.
Such a recluse.
Let me wander over yonder
Till I see the Misty Mountains rise.
I want to ride to the ridge
Where the West commences,
Gaze at Arwen till I lose my senses,
No Orcs and no Uruk Hai and no more dark defenses,
Don't fence me in.

Good King Aragorn, back again in town,
Was sitting by his sweetheart's side,
And when his sweetheart said:
"Come on, let's settle down,"
Aragorn raised his head and cried:

Oh, give me land, lots of land
Under starry skies above,
Don't fence me in.
Let me run through the wild open
Country that I love,
Don't fence me in.

Let me be with the elf in the evening breeze-
Listen to the dwarf complaining about all the trees,
Send me off to Mount Doom, but I ask you please,
Don't fence me in.

Just turn me loose,
Let me straddle Brego’s saddle
Underneath the Gondor sky.
Such a recluse.
Let me wander over yonder
Till I see the Misty Mountains rise,
I want to ride to the ridge
Where the Shire commences,
Smoke Longbottom Leaf til I lose my senses,
No She-Elves, no Shield Maidens and no alimony expenses,
Don't fence me in.
- Frodosmiss

The Rohirrim sang gustily as they followed their Marshal northward…

Ridin’ ridin’ ridin' ridin' ridin' ridin' Rohaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnn*

Keep ridin’ ridin’ ridin’ though the grass is hidin’
Orcs and beasts a runnin’ Rohan!
Through apples and poisoned water, and armour that is freezin’
Wishin’ a girl was by my side
All the things I’m missin’ like Theodred and Boromir
Nothin’s waitin’ at the end of my ride.

Move 'em on head 'em up
head 'em up move 'em on
Move 'em on head 'em up Rohan!
Cut 'em down ride 'em in
ride 'em in cut 'em down
Cut 'em down ride 'em in Rohan!

Movin’ movin’ movin’ though Theoden’s disapprovin’
Keep them Orcs a runnin’ Rohan!
Don’t try to understand ‘em, just shoot and kill and maim ‘em
Soon we’ll be livin’ high and wide
My bottom’s calculatin’ how many more miles
Are ‘for us ere we’re at the end of our ride.

Move 'em on head 'em up
head 'em up move 'em on
Move 'em on head 'em up Rohan!
Cut 'em down ride 'em in
ride 'em in cut 'em down
Cut 'em down ride 'em in Rohan!

(to Part of His World, from The Little Mermaid - Eowyn sings...)

Look at this cage, isn’t it gilded?
What good’s a rose, in the dark, when it’s wilted?
Why do they think I’m the girl
The girl who has everything?

Look at these hands, what do they hold?
Nothing to show that I, too, can be bold,
Yet, looking at me they think
Sure, she's got everything.

Eomer’s fought in battles all gory,
He’s got honors and trophies galore.
While I’m sitting here tending our uncle...
There’s no glory...
Not enough. Trapped in here. I want more!

When's it my turn?
Where is my Love?
How in this place can I rise above?
Oh golly gee, wish I could be
Part of his world.
- Daughter of Kings

Minas Tirith Girls

Well elven girls are hip
I really like those styles they wear
And the Ent women with the way they talk
They knock me out when I’m up there

The Rohan farmer’s daughters really make you feel alright
And the dwarven girls with the way they kiss
They keep their boyfriends warm at night

I wish they all could be Minas Tirith
I wish they all could be Minas Tirith
I wish they all could be Minas Tirith girls

The White Tower reflects the sunshine
But the girls all stay so fair
I like the way they dress in the healing houses
and their long and flowing hair

I’ve been all around this Middle Earth
And I’ve seen all kinds of girls
But I couldn’t wait to get back to Gondor
To the cutest girls in the world

I wish they all could be Minas Tirith
I wish they all could be Minas Tirith
I wish they all could be Minas Tirith girls....

(to The Streets of Laredo)
The Streets of Gondolin

As I walked out in the streets of Gondolin
As I walked out in Gondolin one day
I spied a poor elf lad wrapped up in white linen
All wrapped in white linen as cold as the clay.

“I see by your outfit that you are of the Noldor”
These words he did say as I proudly stepped by
“Come sit down beside me and hear my sad story
I’m shot by an orc and I know I must die.”

’Twas once in Valinor I used to go walking
Once in Valinor I used to go walkin’ all day
First lead to creating and then to jewel makin’
I’m shot by an orc and I’m dying today.

Let six jolly elf lads come carry my coffin
Let six pretty elf lasses come carry my pall
Throw bunches of elanor all over my coffin
Throw elanor to deaden the clods as they fall

“Oh, beat the drum slowly, and play the harp lowly
And play the elf harp as you carry me along
Take me to the green valley and lay the earth o’er me
For I’m a poor elf lad and I know I’ve done wrong”

We beat the drum slowly and played the harp lowly
And bitterly wept as we carried him along
For we all loved our comrade, so brave, young and handsome
We all loved our elf lad although he done no wrong.
- JimboBaggins

For Doctor Gamgee, to the tune of Look at Me, I'm Sandra Dee from Grease

Look at Me, I'm Dr. G

Look at me I'm Doctor G...
I can’t believe that I’m forty!
That middle age spread just fills me with dread...
Not me! I’m Doctor G!

Watch it! Hey, evil Birthday
I won’t let you have your way!
Won't come across, though my youth may be lost...
On this, the blackest day!

I won't drink or swear
When I lose my hair...
I’ll get ill and break out in a sweat!
Hold your hearty guffaws at my burgeoning flaws...
I KNOW behind my ears, it’s no longer wet!

You say, “Ha! Methuselah!
You’ve sure got some real chutzpa!”
Well look, if you must, but I'm no object of lust...
I'm just plain Doctor G!

Reaper, Reaper, let me be!
Keep that sickle far from me!
I’m just forty, blockhead- It don’t mean I’m dead!

Hey, Nazgul, I'm Doctor G!
- Frodosmiss

to the tune of 76 Trombones ,1957 Meredith Willson

76 Elf Horns

Seventy six Elf horns led the Elf brigade
With a hundred and ten times ten glowing blades
They were followed by rows and rows of warriors proud all spears aglow
They're the cream of every Elven glade.

Seventy six Elf horns sounding forth ablow
With a hundred and ten Elf squads in colorful rows
There were more than a thousand reeds springing up like Mallorn seeds
There were Ents of every shape and kind you know

There were horse platoons with copper bottom tympani
Thundering, thundering, right down to the Sea
Double bell euphoniums for times of war
Edoras is on the march to fight for you and me

There were fifty thousand horsemen riding to the fore
Thundering, thundering, louder than before
Trumpeters who's backs would arch as foes all fled into the dark
Their wretched corpses piled up by the score

Seventy six Elf horns scattered every Orc
While a thousand times ten Elf voices pierced the Mark
To the rhythm of 'Harch Harch Harch!'
All these Men and Elves did march
Cries of "Victory" still shouted loud today!
- Erech the Undead

King of Gondor
(King of New York, from Newsies)

Aragorn: Got a sweet chick whose name is Arwen
Defeated the villain whose name was Sauron
Helping some hobbits destroy the ring
Then comin’ to Gondor as the King

Look at me! I’m the king of Gondor!
Suddenly! I’m respectable, starin’ right atcha, lousy with stature.

Nobbin’ with all the muckety-mucks
I’m getting’ my crown and goin’ deluxe

Well, there I be!
Ain’t it pretty, it’s my city, I’m the King of Gondor

Gondorians: Once was nobody from the north
Out of nowhere, he came forth
To help our country regain its glory
Now our new king’s the front-page story

Tip your hat! He’s the king of Gondor!
(Aragorn: How ‘bout that! I’m the king of Gondor!)
Before that! He was wanderin’, Gondor to the Shire, Ranger for hire.

Gondorians: Blowin’ the bad guys with just one punch
Protecting the weak and payin’ for lunch.

Aragorn: When I’m at bat
Strong men crumble Gondorians: Proud yet humble
All: I’m/He’s the king of Gondor

Aragorn: Gotta be either dead or dreamin’
Cause look in the mirror at my face beamin’
Tomorrow I’ll think I’ve lost my mind
But right now I’m feelin’ fine.

Gondorians: Startin’ now, he’s the king of Gondor
(Aragorn: Ain’t ya heard, I’m the king of Gondor)
Holy Cow! It’s a miracle, Saruman’s cryin’, Sauron, he’s dyin’

Trumpets are blaring loud as the sea
Proclaiming the kingship to you and to me

Aragorn: Don’t ask me how
Fortune found me, fate just crowned me, now I’m king of Gondor

All: Look and see, once a ranger, now I’m/He’s danger, to enemies of Gondor.
Victory! Tolkien’s story, guts and glory, now I’m/He’s king of Gondor!

A.N.: I wrote this in February during the "February is Album Writing Month (write 14 songs in 28 days)" songwriting challenge (my theme was the Lord of the Rings & I wrote 15 songs/instrumentals inspired by the story).

We Likes the Night

Shelob: I was here before the morning took away the night
I was here before the mountains rose up to their heights
I was here before the Dark Lord came, before the Elves, before the Men,
I’ll be here when they are gone, and darkness falls again.

Smeagol: I was robbed yes yess the hobbit took away my Ring
I was robbed yes yess that cheater lied and ev’ry-thing!
I was robbed but I will get It back, before too long, before too late
We will get our own back, my Precious, Precious Thing

Both:
We likes the Night, my Precious-ness,
We likes the Night, my sweet
when foul things crawl from ash heaps
and nasty daylight sleeps
We likes the black, it’s colorless
Oh, let the blackness seep
Men can praise the Yellow Face
it’s the Night we keep

Shelob: We’ll be glad to end the moonshine, we don’t need the Sun
Smeagol: We’ll be glad to see the ev’ning frighten everyone
Both: We’ll be glad to know the stars are gone, after the fall, after the end
We’ll be here when light is gone, oh, then our task is done

Both:
We likes the Night, my Precious-ness,
We likes the Night, my sweet
when foul things crawl from ash heaps
and nasty daylight sleeps
We likes the black, it’s colorless
Oh, let the blackness seep
Men can praise the Yellow Face
it’s the Night we keep

Smeagol: give me fish, silver fish, tasty tasty treat
Shelob: give me orcs, give me men, tender flesh to eat

Both:
We likes the Night, my Precious-ness,
We likes the Night, my sweet
when foul things crawl from ash heaps
and nasty daylight sleeps
We likes the black, it’s colorless
Oh, let the blackness seep
Men can praise the Yellow Face
it’s the Night we keep

They Can't Take the Book Away from Me
(to They Can't Take that Away from Me by George & Ira Gershwin)

Tolkien's words won't change what the screenwriter wrote;
though by Concessions they're gone.
The film is starting, but at the opening note,
the memory lingers on.
They can't take that from me,
I'll miss the pages' turn,
But though they change the dwarves beards,
my memory burns....

The way way your hang your hood,
The way you plot till three...
The Smoke Rings, oh so good....
No, No they can't take that away from me.

The way they 'crack the plates',
The way you serve dwarves tea!
The Lonely Mountain drakes,
No No they can't take that away from me.

We may never, ever find the end
of the bumpy road (they say!),
Still theres Beorn, Bag End,
Bert turns to stone at day...

The handkerchief you need,
The Riddle Game you play,
The wargs who had you Treed,
No, No they can't take that away from me.
NO, they can't take that away from me...
- Doctor Gamgee
