Frodo's Destiny

Destined for a journey that would lead him far from home.
Destined for a fate that he wished was not his own.
Destined for a fate that would bring him great fame.
But destined for a fate that would never let him be the same.

This is Frodo's burden
Given to him to bear.
Blessed with eight companions
Who willed this burden to share.

Protecting him against evil,
Protecting him against strife.
Protecting him from injury
Guarding his precious life.

Then Frodo left his dear companions
It had to be for the best.
But his beloved Sam followed
Instead of going with the rest.

Together they marched into Mordor
Seeking places to hide.
And yet they had to continue
With Gollum as their guide.

And while the others fought their battles,
Sam and Frodo fought their war.
Slowly reaching Mount Doom,
Mordor's very core.

But then Gollum betrayed them
And Frodo was captured then.
Sam took up the burden,
Not knowing if Frodo would be seen again.

But Sam, loyal Sam
Saved Frodo from the dungeon cell.
And although Frodo was rescued,
He certainly was not well.

He was weak and hungry,
Inside Mordor's dark night.
And here his gift was no more use,
The phial of E?rendil's light.

And as they reached Mount Doom
With the fire blazing below
Frodo had to destroy the Ring,
But instead he shouted "No!"

This was not what had been planned,
Sam wanted only to return to the Shire.
But suddenly Gollum appeared with them
And fell with the Ring into the fire.

Soon after, the Fellowship gathered in Gondor.
And Aragorn the king married Arwen his queen.
But if they would all be together again,
Was very unlikely it seemed.

The Fellowship departed to their paths
"Farewell, forever," is a sad thing to say.
And Frodo and the hobbits went home
With a few stops along the way.

When they arrived in the Shire,
They have to conquer evil more.
But they had help from all the hobbits,
And they won the final war.

At last Frodo was home again.
Comfortable in his own bed.
And then a happy time for Sam,
Because he and Rosie were wed.

But poor dearest Frodo,
His heart deeply desired to leave.
So he bid his wonderful friends goodbye
And with the Elves, sailed across the Sea.

Destined for a journey that would lead him far from home.
Destined for a fate that he wished was not his own.
Destined for a fate that would bring him great fame.
But destined for a fate that would never let him be the same.
