Shards of Broken Glass

Monsters beat at each other
Leather wings churrned the air
Great mammoths of trunk and tusk
Raked the ground and tore at lives

Horses screamed and fell down dead
While men were run right through
And the Nazgul fell from above
Like shards of broken glass

Drawing blood from many wounds
And staining the sky with smoke
The men and creatures waged their war
Until one side lost or broke

The stench of death hung heavy high
And the blades drank their fill
And the Nazgul fell from above
Like shards of broken glass

A white city burned
With her high walls screaming
Men and woman streaming away
While monsters cut them down

Stones and fire filled the air
Horns split the clouds
And the Nazgul fell from above
Like shards of broken glass

Stained like ink
And dark as night
They ate the light
And were shards to pierce the hearts of men
