The Cloak of Finduilas

LotR Object: Faramir's mother's cloak

I was worn by two women with gold hair
I am glad to be under the sun again
My blue cloth is soft, stars shine here and there
My first dear lady wore me everywhere
She left me too young, in illness and pain
Her lord would have buried me with her there
But their son kept me to remind him where
She walked with him in sunlight or in rain
I wrapped her as she sat in her best chair
And read to him from volumes old and fair
My softness and shine sang a sweet refrain
Of memory of times without such care
A starry night in summer, no sun's glare
He gave me to a new lady as fair
She has need of me to ease her heart's pain
And to guard her from the cold and damp air
Wrapped in me, sorrow does not loudly blare
I was worn by two women with gold hair
My blue cloth is soft, stars shine here and there
