Perennial

- Lothithil

Waking from the warmth of suspension
Break the crust of ice cocoon
Face lifted up, touched by the sun
Weakly, bravely reaching down

She emerges from her sleeping death
Footsteps flower on her path
Frost-foiled grasses ponder a verdant turn
While through the dry tangle Daffodils laugh

Dew on trees draws into tears
Hardened buds of potential
Bursting flowers at the first hint of Spring
Impatient of the leaves which unfurl slow and sensual

Awake again, move forward without hesitation
Kick from your feet from the clinging debris
Last year’s triumphs and failures together
Dying and drying, setting you free.
