Opposites Attract

I hear a call from the heart of the woods
Meant for my ears alone
With practiced stealth, I slip away
Leaving a shade to guile my companions
And head-long run into the night-folded shadows
Searching for that glimmer of gold

In a juniper grove he waits for me
A pillar of sunlight in the darkling world
Ivory hand held out to me
Link my fingers, suddenly cold
Gentle as the breath of a star
He places one stray lock behind my ear
And whispers there all the words he has saved
Since last we stood together
Banishing all doubt and fear from me
And binding this dark elf to him yet again
