Mighty tree, my home
As you dance the slow dance of the ages
Lying in your arms,
Lifted by your love
Over the mean things upon the Earth;
Resting within your protective embrace,
Night is my blanket.
Leaves of gold in the Winter
Leaves of green in the Spring
Our hearts are lifted in song
Root, bole, bough, and twig
Nymph I am to you, silver friend.
As thy brothers and sons fall.
Life cut off in the youth of centuries,
Lumber to feed the machines that
Omnivorously devours all.
Raise up your branching feet and stride away
for Calafalas, my fellow tree-hugger
