He Never Asked

Will he be
the same
gentle Hobbit
I know?
When he returns...
if...no!When
he returns.
I’ll wait and
listen for
word of him.

He didn’t ask
me to wait.
He never asked
me for anything.
But I saw the
words in his
eyes—on his
heart.

Such a huge
world he
wanders in
now.
Will I be
big enough
for him?
Will the
Shire be big
enough?

When he
returns...

My heart
will wait.
We will grow
big
enough
for him.
