The Heart of a Warrior

- Lady of the Shire

The two look on in fear & sorrow
As their friend is pierced
Again and again with arrows –
Yet fights on.
With heart ablaze he defends them
Who cannot defend themselves.
Honor? Who can say nay..
This one, this man of Gondor
Wore it proudly all his days,
‘Til it was ripped from him
Without mercy in a dark glade.
The two look on in fear and sorrow
As Gondor’s warrior takes back his honor
Laying down his life for it and for them.
No silver trumpets
No banners waving
In that silent wood –
Only a fallen Lord of Gondor,
With heart & honor restored.
