Sam to Frodo: being part of a grand story...

- jan-u-wine
Will you
and  I
ever
be part
of
a grand
story?

That

would be a tale

inside
a tale....
for there's
tales
you see
and them's
you don't....
and it's the ones
you don't
that need telling
the most.

This one here,
now,
might seem
cruel hard
in the telling.

It isn't so.

It might
seem
terrible sad
to other eyes.

It isn't so......

it isn't so.

When
we
tell it,
in happier times
that will be,
we
shall make it small
and
bright,
like a shiny toy
from long-ago,

held tight
within
wondering hands.

We
shall
watch
young faces,
lit by curiosity....
eyes
rounded
by far-away fears.

Oliphaunts
and Elves.....

coneys
and
coal-eyed horses....

Rings
bound by magic spells,
spiders
spinning webs
of night....

Kings
and
Common-folk.....
trees of light....

It
will all be
just
a story to them,

sad,
strangely beautiful,
an age-softened
fable
mums whisper
between bath
and
bed.

And you...

you
shall
be
the most
famousest
of Hobbits,
and
I,
the
brave Gardener.

When,
in happier times,
we
tell our tale.
