The following poem flows out of my love for two people. The fictional
(however real he seems) character of Samwise Gamgee and the very real
Jesus Christ. Now I know that not everyone on these boards is Christian
and I respect that. That's why I'm giving you fair warning. This poem
is very Christian in nature, so don't read it if you think it will
upset you.

He's such a friend and comfort
he carries my burdens great
he has a servants heart

so Jesus is to me.
He's promised never to leave me
he keeps me on the path
and when temptations seem too great
he's there to help me out
as Samwise is to Frodo

Sometimes I stumble, sometimes I fall
I make such bad decisions
He's there with me through it all
as Samwise is to Frodo
so Jesus is to me
Even when I leave him
and think I can make it alone
He never gives up, he's always there
as Samwise is to Frodo
so Jesus is to me
At times the path gets hard to bear
It's dark and I'm afraid
he reminds me of the light
and pulls me through again

so Jesus is to me.
When things are at their worst,
I can't take another step
he carries me along
As Samwise is to Frodo,
so Jesus is to me.
I hurt him with my words,
my accusations like a knife
into his heart that grieves for me
He would gladly take my place.

so Jesus is to me.
"I will never leave you or forsake you"
these words are true and sound.
