A Poem for Bilbo

- Gimliguy

As I walk upon this long road,
Leading away from home;
It stirs up some old memories,
Of the last time this way I roamed.

It seemed quite the adventure then,
I was in both excitement and fear;
But this I just feel lonesome,
Without my Frodo near.

I have made my choice now though,
I'm sure he'll understand;
But now that I'm leaving him,
I feel like my end is at hand.

There is still much I'd like to do though,
Write my book, smoke my pipe;
Just sit down in peace and quiet,
Now that my life is ripe.

Farewell Shire,farewell Bag End,
Farewell my old companions and friends;
Farewell my dear Frodo,
Until we meet again.
