My Heart

- Dinledhwen
A Woodland Elf Poem

My heart longs to dwell in these woods I call home
Where the voices of the trees whisper to me
Their joyful announcement of spring’s arrival
With their delicate green leaves opening above me.

My heart longs to dwell in these woods I call home
Where the voices of the trees now say out loud
That summer has come, and we are in our prime
With dense veils of green leaves floating above me.

My heart longs to dwell in these woods I call home
Where the voices of the trees have reached their peak
As they respond to the touch of autumn’s brush
With leaves turning in reds and golds above me.

My heart longs to dwell in these woods I call home
Where the voices of the trees murmur in sleep
While winter spreads a snowy cloak about them
With their bareness now dressed in white above me.
