The Mirage

- Dinledhwen
While I was sitting alone in this tree
With nothing to ease my sorrowful heart
I caught a glimpse of something white move past
But the dense leaves obscured it from my sight.

Suddenly a joyful thought came to me
And my heart did leap with such happiness
While I nimbly made my way to the ground
So I could then swiftly run towards the shore.

But I only found disappointment there
For what I thought to be a ship’s white sails
Was nothing more that the whiteness of clouds
I had seen moving slowly from the sea.

So I stood there now with tears in my eyes
While I gazed out over the empty sea
Before I slowly retraced my steps back
With this sorrowful filled heart to my tree.
