Waiting for the Sun to Rise

- Dandy

The dark has decended,
it came from the east
The sky blotted out,
by a dark shadow's feast.

Moving up the stairs,
all our hope left behind
legs cramping, back breaking
will is hard to find.

Fear all about us
ponderous and thick
air, water, stone
all a poisonous trick.

Still we travel onward
final gasps a chore
last desperate measures
taken long before.
