Frodo's Fate

- Dandy
The burden lies heavy upon me
and shadows walk in the night
It is long since aged wisdom
has brought either color, clarity or sight.

The Ancient days are drawing to an end
And on toward the evil roads I trod
My back bends because of the load
and all I can do is follow at a plod

Across the barren desert lands
Where neither water not comfort are found
Where blacken torn ash-heaps reside
And gasps for air the only sound

A ring of fire veils my sight
And dark dreams take their toll
Alas that I could have one more chance
To ease the troubles that burden my soul

But darkness is a harsh mistress
And I can but only hope and wait
For this is no longer in my own hands
But in the twisted, grasping
blackened hands
of fate....
