In the Talons of Eagles

With wings of grace,
and accurate eyes,
the eagles watch and wait.

Upon the wind,
Gandalf flies,
he hopes he’s not to late.

They search the ground,
and then they see,
two figures small and frail.

Frodo and Sam,
near death’s door,
their faces clammy and pale.

Swooped up by mighty talons,
safe from fear and harm,
they cling to life so weak.

They once were strong,
they once were happy,
now their sullen and meek.

If they’ll make it,
no one knows,
but as time passes,
they’ll see.

They will heal and become,
as strong as strong,
could ever be.
