Assorted Tolkien Haiku

Collected by Rindoien & Primula
Some of these are rather "free-flowing" in that they do not follow the traditional pattern of haiku, but it's the thought that counts, right?

Galadriel

The tall, fair she-elf,
She dwells in Lothlorien,
She desires the ring.

- Rindoien

Off with one more head
Easy on the tender hearts
Blood's not even red.

Haiku for Lothbrethil, entwife

Garden of Orc bones
We reap more than was sow-en
Ents go Hroom booming

Ring around foul Orcs
A poesy for my Ent lass
Entlessly my love

- pilbara orc

Arwen

Tall, lovely
eyes of stars
a gentle voice
Evenstar of her people

- Frodo Baggins

Gollum

Alas, to my great sorrow
That it was Gollum
Whose voice was loudest.

- Calafalas

Lord Celeborn

I know your pain is
great, Samwise, for my soul is
torn in two; she sails

- Auntkimby35

Arwen

None understand
How my heart pines-
Why must I be an elf maiden in love.

- Auntkimby35

Sam

Blade straight
He stands to defend
His master and friend
Against HER lash

- Auntkimby35

Frodo

Small, yet so brave and strong
his spirit burns brightly
he will not give up

 - Frodo Baggins

Pippin

I am so hungry
'No second breakfast he said"
who is this Ranger?

- Lizmybit

Pippin

I might be a fool of a Took
But know each leaf of my family tree

- Auntkimby35

Merry or Pippin

Stealer of corn,
Mushrooms, carrots, potatoes,
Will nobody stop him?

- Frodo Baggins

Galadriel

My brothers I followed here
Lorien is fading
Will they let me return?

 - Lobelia

Three Hunters...three haiku

Sturdy dwarf, Gloin's son
Natural sprinter so he says
Racing against time

Legolas, Prince of Mirkwood
Long-legged archer,
Vision of Nimble grace

Born to be king with quiet strength
Master Tracker
Loyal friend and ally

- Lindorie

Pippin

Peeker into the Palantir
Bane of Gandalf's existence-
yet loved

- Auntkimby35

Aragorn

Dark-hooded stranger
keen piercing eyes, strong spirit
strange one, who are you?

-Frodo Baggins

Three haiku for Rohan

Noble horse lords of the Mark
Masters of the Plains
Descendants of Eorl.

Banished for his loyalty
Noble Lord of Rohan
Third Marshall, Eomer.

Hope has forsaken us
Theoden rules no more
Wormtongue smiles at puppet-king.

- Lindorie

Haldir

Golden warrior
Savior Elf of Helm's Deep
I say Haldir lives!

- seansbeanie

Galadriel

The tall, fair she-elf,
She dwells in Lothlorien,
She desires the ring.

The ring, the bearer,
They come to Lothlorien,
It is her one chance.

Look in the mirror,
What does the ring-bearer see?
Things that are, may be.

Give her the one ring,
Then you will have an elf-queen,
Not dark, beautiful.

She has passed the test,
And she will now diminish,
Just Galadriel.

- rindoien

Eowyn

Fair as a flower,
Yet yearning to be equal,
And fight in battle.

- rindoien

One for Sam

He's a liar and a thief
Frodo doesn't see
He will kill us in our sleep .

- Lobelia

Eowyn and Grima

leave me alone you snake
You make my skin crawl
too long have you watched me

- Lizmybit

The Ring

I betrayed Isuldur
Found in Gollum's Cave
Now I am Frodo's Precious.

- kaybaggins

Elves - tall, elegant
Speak in beautiful voices
But trust neither Men nor Dwarves

Dwarves - stocky, solid
Coming reluctantly here
They still mistrust Elves

Of Men there are two
One from the land of Gondor
He protects his home

Another man bides
He seeks not his destiny
Softly speaks wisdom

The Wizard listens
Then speaks the words of Mordor
Joins the argument

The little Hobbit
Only wishes to go home
Yet - “I will take it.”

The group falls silent
Then each one pledges his aid
So, a Fellowship
- Nuroriel
