Haldir of Lorien
(Triolet)

An elven guard with patient bow;
They passed him by with orcs pursuit -
They were brought in for Lady's show.
An elven guard, with patient bow
And firm but even words enow.
He'd rather have kept them out, in truth.
An elven guard with patient bow;
They passed him by with orcs pursuit.

- Primula

They Will Not Travel Far
(Triolet)

They will not travel far inside,
the lands that I have loved from birth.
I'll skin their slimy orcish hide.
They will not travel far inside.
The Galadhrim will stem this tide,
and rid them from our sacred earth.
They will not travel far inside,
the lands that I have loved from birth.

- The Foe Hammer

A Villanelle for Haldir

An elven leader bright
To fight with men, he is proud
Against the armies of night
Heavy hearts are made light
By the brave elven crowd
An elven leader bright
The fearsome foe in sight
Their fair arrows sing loud
Against the armies of night
The blackest hour of night
Rain falls like a shroud over
An elven leader bright
The silver arrows' flight
Failed against the roaring crowd
Against the armies of night
Cold and sad is dawn's light
The fairest needs a shroud
An elven leader bright
Against the armies of night

- Orangeblossom Took

A Found Poem for Haldir
The Marchwarden Speaks

Out of a thicket an Elf stepped,
Clad in grey, his hair glinted like gold
He spoke words of welcome in the elven-tongue

“We seldom use any tongue but our own
But some of us still who go abroad,
and speak languages of other lands,
I am one; Haldir is my name”

“We dwell now in the heart
Of the forest; Fair Lothlorien
And not willingly have dealings with other folk”

“Some sing that peace shall come again
Yet I do not believe that the world
Will ever again be as it was aforetime
It would be a poor life
In a land where no mallorn grew”

- Magic Dreamer

To A Forest Old And Dark
(triolet)

It's grown too dark for me to shoot
Keep breathing loudly ,Friend.
This drumming rain has beckoned root
It's grown too dark for me to shoot
Old branches hold me, leafless mute
An ent's my shepherd in the end
It's grown too dark for me to shoot
Keep breathing loudly,Friend.
