Many people all across the globe love The Lord of the Rings.   I started reading The Hobbit last November and finished The Fellowship of the Ring on December 19, the morning before I went to see the movie. Since then, I finished all four books and have started reading them over again. To every LotR fan, there is a different reason for them holding Middle-Earth close to their heart. For me, both the books and the film gave me an escape from my life. I have been struggling through depression since seventh grade. I'm a senior in high school now (grade twelve), and my parents got divorced at the beginning of this year. I had always clung to my family and felt like my security was lost. Middle-Earth became a place for me to go and wonderful characters to surround myself with. If I could, I would thank J.R.R. Tolkien and Peter Jackson both for shining a light for me while I tried to get out of such a dark place within myself.
